Portfolio of Works

This is a body of work inspired by my old family photographs.  I am fascinated by the subtle expressiveness of sepia-toned paint and the mysterious sensation of timelessness that it offers.  I am telling my long ago family's stories and illustrating my history.

My portraits of young children as magical beings are a celebration of a child's ability to connect effortlessly to the realm of magic.  My intent in creating these portraits is to capture a true likeness while also creating a magical persona for each child.  Girls receive butterfly wings, while boys sport dragonfly wings.  I work from photographs, changing the clothing to reflect each child's personality.  The portraits are drawn in Graphite pencil on white paper.  They measure approximately 8" x 6".

If you would like to commission a portrait of your very own special "magical being", please contact me by email at [email protected].    Single portraits are $190, with a deposit of $50.  A portrait for 2 children is $350, with a $75 deposit.    I am showing a small selection from the many commissioned portraits I have done over the last several years so you can see examples of my Magical Portraits.  Contact me and we can discuss doing a portrait.  Turn around time is usually @ two weeks.  You may be put on a waiting list.

Traditional Commissioned Portraits are done in graphite or colored pencil.  I have done several portraits in oil, but I specialize in the other two mediums.  Prices fluctuate, depending on size.  For example, a 10" x 8" colored pencil portrait is $400.  A graphite portrait sized at 10" x 8" is priced at $245.  Complicated backgrounds will raise the price.  Please contact me to discuss your interest in commissioning a portrait.  Send an email to [email protected] .
